Disappointing service! Inattentive management! Inexperienced staff. We came on a Sunday night for dinner. The power was out on the first floor of casino, so we chose to eat upstairs at Johnny Sanchez. We were seated quickly, and the restaurant didn't seem very busy (many open tables). After five minutes of waiting, a woman (who appeared to be a manager) came to the table and gave us water. A couple was then seated at the table next to us. Ten minute passed and the table seated after us was getting their drinks and we still had not seen our server. We waited another five minutes and went to the bar. (Total: 20 minutes with no service) We were at the bar for over ten minutes before we were offered drinks. We then waited another ten minutes before we were offered food. (Total: 40 minutes and no food) At this point we decided to finish our drinks and take our business elsewhere. The drinks we had were good, but not good enough to warrant more than two stars.
Portions are small for the price food was tasty. Service too over an hour to bring our food after we ordered.
Service was terrible and the food not so good. We first started at the bar where we inquired about margaritas that were supposed to be on special since it was a Sunday during happy hour. They were to be $5 each per the website and also signage in front of the restaurant. When I asked the bartender if margaritas were still on special she stated that she was not sure. This coming from the bartender that had already told me she had been employed at this restaurant since its opening 3 years ago. It took her 20 minutes to get back to us on the price and after confirming that they were indeed $5 each it took 20 more minutes to receive them after being ordered. We were then seated at our table because our other guests had arrived and this is when it got even worse. Drinks took an average of 15 minutes to reach the table after ordering and they were only two other table with guest. To say the least it was a slow night for patrons. One of our guest asked for a rail drink because they were also supposed to be $5 until 7pm. He ordered a rum and coke and was told by the waitress that rail drinks only included drinks with vodka. I have never heard of this before ever. No rum and coke or anything other than something mixed with vodka. Food was sub par and they were out of chicken completely. When the bill came all drinks were on the bill for $11 each. Waitress stated she would see if she could get price lowered since it was happy hour. She asked who we talked to, to get the price of $5. Bills were finally adjusted to reflect happy hour price after 30 minutes. One couple that was with us gave the server $50 dollars cash and a credit card and explained use the cash first and then put the rest on the card. When the credit card receipt arrived for signature the whole total was put on their credit card. They asked where their $50 cash went and the waitress had it in her pocket and said , Did you want me to put that toward the bill first? Are you serious?? Isn't this common knowledge. Obviously we will not be going back and just wanted people to beware when dining at this establishment. Dine at your own risk!!!
I really love Johnny Sanchez, The food is great and every time I decide to come to downtown Baltimore area I always stop pass and have a yummy steak taco to be honest I feel that it is the best restaurant in the Horseshoe Casino
