Most physical therapy patients should not have to stay continue physical therapy forever, and indeed, I see many come and eventually leave, happy with their results. I, however, will be here for a long time to come. When I arrived at Mind Body, I was on course to have a number of joint surgeries. With the help of the physical therapists and pilates instructors at Mind Body, I should be able to stave on these surgeries--perhaps forever.

If you have to choose a post-surgical or injury prevention physical therapist, start here. And if you want quality pilates instruction, start here. If you have hypermobile EDS and live anywhere near Baltimore, definitely consider making the trip. It's worth it.

I absolutely love Mind Body Pilates. I've been taking private one-on-one Pilates seasons with Rainya and feel like I've given my body a brand new start. I've learned a ton about lengthening through my spine and exercises I can do daily to improve posture and core conditioning. The whole staff is so easy to get a long with and the mat classes are excellent. Can't recommend Mind Body enough!

I had babies and quit my job and hasn't seen her for a year or so, when she came to my house and helped me with my sewing project. While she was sitting at the sewing machine I looked at her back, and thought about how pretty her back looks, perfect posture and really beautiful back... than I suddenly realized that she wasn't looking like this only a year ago. WHen I sked her what she did for her scoliosis, she said that she's been going to Mind Body.

I have now "graduated" from physical therapy to straight pilates. I take private pilates lessons (with an instructor who happens to also be a physical therapist,) once or twice a week.

Without a doubt the best PT around. Try to find another practice where the PT spends at least 45 minutes with you every visit. These girls are the best. Saved my life!!

I have been to numerous physical therapy clinics in the area, each one highly recommended by the referring physician and widely accepted as one of the best in the Baltimore area. Unfortunately, none of these establishments was able to help me. Some of them made me significantly worse; others simply failed to improve my symptoms. I had my joints dislocated, my newly repaired shoulder capsule overstretched, and other disasters. In addition, the strengthening exercises I was given were not appropriate for my condition (Ehlers Danlos, hypermobility type), so I did not become any stronger. In general, each PT tried to shove me into some prototype instead of considering me as an individual.

In contrast, the physical therapists at Mind Body listened to me and appropriately tailored the manual therapy and the exercises to my condition. One key is that they use pilates based exercises. In an amazingly short time, I became stronger and more pain free than I had been in six years. My shoulders, which once had a 2-inch height difference, became perfectly even. I was able to walk up stairs without pain. I became able to lift twice as much weight as before. My hips no longer subluxed and dislocated without warning.

My co-worker and friend had not severe, but pretty bad case of scoliosis, it's when your spine is crooked. It was pretty visible no matter what she wore - one of her shoulder blades was sticking out and considerably lower than another.
