I have been a patient of Dr. Martins for a many years now, and he is an excellent Doctor. My issue is with his new practice. On a recent visit, and annual cancer screening, he found something he wanted to biopsy. In the past, he simply pulled out a razor kit and sliced off the small area and sent it in. This time, he said I had to make a second appointment for the biopsy. When I queried why I had to take off a 2nd day from work, and pay a second $50 co-pay for something that would take just a minute, he said it was because the new practice policy is that "If they did it on the same visit, they would only get $20 from the insurance company, if they schedule it for a different day, they will get full payment". Now later, when I pressed this with the office manager, she said that was not true, that they do it on the same day, it backs up his schedule, and he is always on time. This was not my experience. I waited 10 min past my appointment time in the waiting room (I have never been seen on time), and according to her, he did not have time to do a 1 min slice. I'm not buying it. Sure, if the biopsy work was many removals, that would take substantial time, that would be understandable. I believe Dr Martin's explanation, as this makes a whole lot more sense, and it comes from the actual Doctor.
