Not the most welcoming place. Although I'm not a religious man, I've visited many churches for their beauty and inspiration. Never before have I been kicked out of one for not being a member. Didn't offer any information on the church or membership, not even after we explained that we are new neighbors. Just a curt "goodbye". They deserve two stars because of the beautiful grounds, with winding paths between multi-denominational shrines (for enjoyment by members only, of course). But unfortunately no more because of the lack of warmth.
The church's phone number is not operational. Although I've never attended, the church is one of the most unpleasant neighbors I've ever had. Just recently, although its driveway is tidily plowed, its sidewalks remain untouched, with nearly 3 feet of snow undisturbed. The church maintains its property where visible from the street, while allowing weeds and vermin to run amok on its common boundaries. I'd never have thought that a church would be such an inconsiderate neighbor.
I grew up in a Buddhist culture. When I arrived in US, I explored different churches and religions in hope to find the secret to life's true joy. After years of searching, I told myself that what I was looking for didn't exist. I believed that there was one creative, all healing power in the Universe. All religions attempted to describe it in different ways, according to their particular type of practice. Then I met a member from this church in 2006, I was invited for a visit. Upon entering, I saw the words in the sanctuary "Truth Is One, Men Called It By Various Names." I knew I found my spiritual home!!
They truly embody the meaning of unconditional love here. While my schedule does not allow me to attend every service or opportunity for joyful service, they hold the space of knowing that we attend and are present when we can be and it is all perfect.
When I first attended many years ago I was amazed that I didn't have to modify any of the teachings to fit my own spiritual understanding, as I typically had to do at other churches. I felt like I had found home spiritually. And since then I have enjoyed and benefited so much from this community of loving and devoted people. Through my ups and downs, I have always felt more uplifted and positive leaving service than when I arrived. I am forever thankful for this church!
I have came here regularly since then. I have dearest friends here! The tools generously given in services weekly have been most helpful for creating a joyful and fulfilling life for me and my family. I also practice hatha yoga. I am a retired business woman, mother of three, and an artist. Hope my review help you decide to check out the beautiful teaching of our Swami!
